You might want to check out the NBehave prototype bits in the /contrib/NBehave part of the Gallio repository and have a look-see.

This particular prototype implements an older specification constraint syntax from the original NSpec just to show that it's possible. I'm not the the NBehave guys will actually keep this syntax in the long run.

Anyone can implement a new framework on top of Gallio with pretty much whatever semantics you choose. You can build on top of the abstreact "Pattern Test Framework" like MbUnit and the NBehave prototype does, or you can implement ITestFramework directly like the MbUnit v2, NUnit, xUnit.Net and prototype MSTest adapters do.

This capability isn't just about subclassing or aliasing attributes. You can really create your own attributes that do pretty much whatever you like. And if you don't want to use attributes then you don't have to.

Have fun!
Jeff.

P.S. Gallio Alpha 2 has just been released! http://www.gallio.org/
